What are the SME Packages?

The SME Packages are a public programme run by the Ministry of the Economy that helps Luxembourg SMEs grow by funding a significant share of their projects: digitalisation, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence. You run the project, the State reimburses part of the cost.

Empirys is a Luxembourg IT company (Ehlange-sur-Mess) that supports SMEs as a provider for the SME Packages, across all their eligible IT projects.

Who are the SME Packages for?

The scheme is reserved for SMEs established in Luxembourg. Four conditions, all verifiable before putting a file together:

Be an SME in the European sense: fewer than 250 employees and turnover below €50m.
Have your registered office in Luxembourg.
Hold a business permit (autorisation d’établissement) granted by the Ministry of the Economy.
Run a project between €3,000 and €25,000 excluding VAT.

The aid at a glance

Rate: 70 % of eligible costs.
Eligible costs: from €3,000 to €25,000 excluding VAT.
Maximum aid: up to €17,500.
Payment: after the project is delivered, against supporting documents.
Decision: the award remains subject to the eligibility conditions and to the decision of the Ministry of the Economy.

How it works

The annual State budget is limited and applications are processed on a rolling basis: it is best to apply early. Approval usually takes 2 to 4 weeks, and you then have 12 months to deliver the project.

Step by step

Scoping: we assess the need, the eligibility and the scope of the project.
Filing the application: through the House of Entrepreneurship (Chamber of Commerce) or eHandwierk (Chamber of Skilled Trades), naming Empirys as the provider.
Ministry decision: review of the file, usually two to four weeks.
Delivery: Empirys implements the project.
Payment: eligible costs reimbursed against supporting documents, once the project is closed.
